Public rides human powered crafts on the water:

Log Rolling on the Harlem River: Sport of log rolling on the water; Sport of chopping and sawing on land.

“Water Parade” of the canoes and kayaks, followed or led by fire boats. WI to lead the canoe and kayak water parade of the human powered crafts.

2 pm, Battle of the Boroughs Regatta – Row NY (from Manhattan) and HR Community Rowing (from the Bronx) to participate, Race of the row boat crews, 4-5 boats in the race with the flag of each borough.

BRONX HEALTH REACH WALK / HIGHBRIDGE HISTORIANS: Walking tour of the Roberto Clemente State Park and its edges

Children Learn About the River

From 10 am to 1 pm, Public school children will learn about riding in a canoe, important facts about the Harlem River’s history and future, and other lessons about water.

Harlem River Celebration

On Saturday, October 20, community groups have organized the 2012 Harlem River Festival – a Party on the River and the Land. Plans include a week of events leading up to the Festival and centering on the Bronx’ own New York State Park: Roberto Clemente State Park, which has docks providing access onto the water.
